Bulldog Subaru in Twyford appeared to have a new model white Impreza with DIESEL on the reg plate. Is this one of the first demonstrators?

I was there on Sunday - they've loaned their demonstrator to another dealer, but they had a blue diesel in the showroom stickered at £22,600. Salesman told me they only have 200 diesels available this year, so not many demonstrators around?
What's strange is that there's absolutely no reference to the diesel Impreza on Subaru UK's website. On one page it specifically says diesel Imprezas are not available in the UK!
Don't they want to sell any?

I'm guessing that was a diesel Legacy you saw stickered up at £22k? But, like you I'm really surprised that they're not bringing more into the country given their current direction in moving towards the mainstream hatch market of which diesels will account for a big chunk.

Subaru in the UK (International Motors) are being royally f88ked over by the exchange rate between £ and Yen. I have it from a reliable source to make a profit on a diesel Impreza they`d need to flog em for going on for £30K.

Sweet jesus! If thats right then I can totally see why they wouldn't bother.

On a good note, on the face of it Bulldog seem to be turning around a decent amount of used stock. I only live around the corner and it would be a shame to see them struggle.

Imagine a new age diesel Impreza... Ugly, slow, bad for the soul. What a waste of time.

I'm presuming the Impreza diseasel has the boxer diesel engine. I've never known such a pointless concept for a car. A relatively thirsty, slow, butt ugly, expensive, diesel, impracticle ,hatchback rally car with no tourque. Oooooooh I want one of those.

Read a short article on this in Autocar a few months back (must be true then!) when someone from Subaru UK confirmed that the exchange rate is so bad at present that they wouldn't want to import any.
