I've got an MR2 turbo Mk.2 rev.2 and basically I would like to get up to circa 300bhp, what way would you suggest to go about it? and what sort of money would it cost?
Do a search on www.imoc.co.uk it gets asked on a daily basis and is very easy for '94 on cars. You have a rev2 though so more involved i.e. new turbo.Herman Toothrot said:

You will need a metal head gasket kit, fuel cut defender, a rev3 conversion for the MAF, bigger injectors, a bigger turbo, and a way of mapping the engine....
lots of people do it though, and rev3 tubby parts are cheap at the moment.
Why do people say do rev3 conversions? lots of people do it though, and rev3 tubby parts are cheap at the moment.
My take on rev3 conversion = Pointless
1. If you buy any decent aftermarket ECU its irrelevant what revision the car is any decent aftermarket ECU can be used on any car from any manufacturer, let alone the same model with minor changes. Fitting a rev3 MAF pointless, FCD pointless; the new ECU doesn't care.
2. If your not going for an aftermarket ECU why do you think its beneficial to replace an OEM ecu mapped to the engine for one that isn't? The rev3 has lower compression ratio and a different head to rev1 & 2 cars so it won't be anything like near optimal when wired up to this different engine.
The only reason Ryan published how to do the swap was so people could fit plug and play rev3 specific Apexi Power FC's (that were cheap and readily available about 2 years ago) on rev1 & 2.

You've just got it! I'd leave it for a bit before you start fettling! It should still feel fast to you, so when it starts wearing off, then upgrade!Gassing Station | Japanese Chat | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
