Hi all,

Currently weighing up the plusses and minuses of a new car.

Entertaining the thought of a MR2, mk3 model. There a few early ones in the area 51 plates mainly showing 50-60k on the clock.

Is there anying inparticular I should be looking out for. Obviously at that age\mileage wear and tear is expected but I'd rather go in with my eyes open!

Second query. I understand praticality is low down the list, however I'd be interested to know how actual owners coped over a period of time. is there any tips to maximise space, could I, for example, fit a golf bag in the passenger seat (sans passenger obviously!)

Cheers all

I'm a huge MR2 fan (I own a Mk2 turbo)....but I would buy a similar-age MX-5 over a mk3. It really has NO storage space at all, a and a weak engine. It sits between an MX-5 and an Elise and has the weaknesses of both, and the advantages of neither.

Having said that - if you do get one, try to get a facelifted (post 2003 IIRC) model. They fixed a few fairly major problems that can cost you an engine.
