Brembo upgrade for MY2000 Impreza

A friend of mine with a MY2000 UK turbo is considering a brake upgrade. We're trying to determine whether Brembo 4 pots will work on his car.

Having searched the 'net, I gather that the gold Brembos from a later car will fit and so will the disks, provided that the disks are from a pre-2005 car.

Does that sound right? If so, will his wheels fit with/without spacers?

The car has standard 17" Prodrive OZ wheels.

Pre 2005 sounds about right - they changed the PCD to 5x113.5 iirc from 5x100. However the big problem is clearance on the alloys, the Brembos are HUGE. They only have about 3mm clearance on Sti alloys. I would post up on any of the Subaru forums - it will be a very common question.
