Subaru, Sti 5 98. Thoughts
Discussion
Hi guys,
Noticed a car advertised and wondering about impreza's in general. I sold my car a wee while ago and looking for another turbo Jap car so came across a Scooby witha 2.5 engine swap from the 2007 cars.
i was also looking at Evo 6's.
This Subaru is quite highly modified hense the attraction.
Are the impreza's reliable enough compared to an Evo, i will be using the car as a daily driver, prob about 8 miles a day for work, then trips at night.
Anything i should look out for, especailly with the 2.5 engine swap.
General comments regarding these cars.
Im not up on Sunaru's at all, im more of a Toyota guy so any info would be great.
Cheers in advance.

I've had Subarus for nearly the last 10 years. They've never been a problem either standard or modified, other than routine service parts and replacement lambda sensors.
It is essential to know all the fine details with a 2.5 conversion. Some are really good, but there are lots of opportunity to bodge bits and cut corners that are not immediately obvious.
Assuming it's done right it will be an exceptional fast road car with plenty of torque, although it's not unknown to have gearbox problems in highly tuned cars when they're driven without mechanical sympathy.

Thanks for the replies.
This is the car in question, conversion was done at KRC or KC in Falkirk i think.

That's a cheap car!! It looks like no corners cut and very probably been done properly.
The 2008 RCM Time Attack winning car i think uses a 2.2 from a 22b bored out to 2.3 with modified v.5 or 6 heads so it should be good!!
I bet it's a hoot to drive, lighter than a newage and just over 400 ponies should be very interesting indeed. Bite their arm off quickly but offer them £6K in cash before it goes although be prepared to give them the £6,600....in fact if only i had the dosh i would be jumping over my granny for that one. Looks a cracking motor!!
