Just bought a Bug eye WRX

Always thought they were ugly and now i have one. well mine has a Subaru conversion of 3 smaller round lights. Not to everyones taste.
I Just wanted a runaround as sold my E46 M3 and it came up locally.
Feels wallowy compared to M3 and the Mrs Mini cooper S but I suppose it will take some getting used too. There is tons of lag and nothing happens till 3000 revs, then were off.
Just trying to get used to them again as had the early model a few year ago.
only problem apart from the odd scratch/ stone chip is only one key, does anyone know the best way to get another key (built in alarm Fob) Is it a main stealer job?
Any ideas how much they are?

Sounds like you've got the Prodrive headlight conversion, VERY expensive from Subaru (about 7-800 quid iirc). I had it on my old bugeye and quite liked it.
They are a bit wallowy, but handling is easy to sort fairly cheaply by changing the ARB's. Best option imho is to go 22mm front and 24mm rear, and change the droplinks all round while you're at it. This will stiffen things up and dial out some of the understeer for about 300 quid and an hours work.
Geo check as mentioned is also worth doing.
Surprised you find it laggy as the smaller TD04 turbos on these spool much earlier than the TD05 on the earlier models.

The lights I have seen on some others with Prodrive kits, I think they are Xenon. Look a bit like a Halfords add on.
Mine is not a PPP car though.
I prefer the black headlights on the STI.
Other than ebay is there anywhere than sells them?

All the suspension upgrades I mentioned are easily doable on your drive chap. I managed it all with just a socket set and a pair of ramps, and I'm hopeless with a spanner! Took me less than two hours. Obviously the geo needs sorting professionally. The Prodrive lights are well sought after, I bought a set 2 years ago and paid 250 quid, but I've seen them go for lots more. The STi lights can be put on a WRX, but it's a ballache by all accounts, as they use different connectors iirc.

I of course would of prefered the later one, but had a budget to stick too.
I am not going to tweek it, I am going to just enjoy running around in it.

I don't know where to start with this one
. the "lag" you refer to is more to do with the standard engine map and is easily sorted. The bug eye models did wallow a bit more than the later "penut" ,which is actualy normaly refered to as a blob eye, model. I love baiting M3s in my blobeye PPP STI with its remap to combat the "lag".

Think i will leave them as it seems to have had a fair bit spent on prodrive bits (apart from upgrade)
Having said I wont tweek it I have had an offer to remap for £350 and am tempted.
I cant compare to the M3 I had as its 1/4 of the price. That was not what I was meaning.

The headlights on the Bugeye UK300 are the Prodrive lights as mentioned in this thread, not the Morrettes old chap.Wes

BUGEYES RULE!! 
As has been said....sort the wallowing for not a lot of money as Weso suggested, add some extra negative camber at the front (i run as much as it it will adjust with the standard camber bolts) and that will take care of any sea sickness, resulting in better turn in and much less understeer.
Even with c.218-225bhp the above mods will allow you to carry a lot of speed into bends and i'll bet your WRX will surprise you at just how much outright grip it has compared to many more exotic cars!! Even in it's wallowy state it will still get round bends quicker than most.

Only got one key, but still has orange front side indicators and reflector things, think the headlight indicators are de tangod though. reg ends FTA?im wondering if this is my old wrx ? ive noticed its just recently been re insured so i know its back on road, i de-tangoes the front headlights so they look different, not like sti and not like uk300 but nice

I know. I wasnt going to spend that much on a car after selling the M3 as I am working away and wont need a car much for the next year.Glad I did though.
The fuel gauge goes down as fast as the rev counter goes up, now I remember why I sold my classic shape one! LOL
