SUBARU impreza FEEDER PIPE PROBLEM

Ive just purchased my new impreza 2000 turbo and a friend said that he heard that there is a common problem related to a small feeder pipe that connects to the turbo,this pipe can easily get blocked as its so small and f#@k the engine. i don't know how true this is but i was told to stop this apparent problem happening id need to replace the pipe with a bigger 1. please can any1 tell me anything about this cheers guys

I think what you mean is the oil feed pipe that goes to the Turbo. On a standard turbo there is a filter inside the banjo fixing bolt at the at the cylinder head end. This filter mesh has been known to block up and severely restrict oil flow to the turbo resulting in a badly damaged turbo.

Remove the filter and the problem goes away. If you buy new oil feed pipes or an upgrade turbo that comes with pipes and bolts you'll notice that the banjo bolt doesn't have a filter in it.

This issue is also sometimes mixed up with newage cars running AVCS. The oil feed to the AVCS has a wire mesh. If that gets blocked the AVCS stops working and throws up a check engine light but doesn't result in any major damage unlike the Turbo oil feed banjo bolt filter issue.
