Hi all,

Thought I would post on here to get your feedback on this ad on autotrader http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2009...

I have email discussions with the seller, who tells me that the car is in Cadiz, Spain, but still registered in the UK.

The registration number and VIN number check out ok on a full vehicle check with no outstanding HPI etc.

I've asked her for a photo of the VIN plate and the log book and also her phone contact details (nothing forthcoming yet).

Apparently the buying price includes delivery back to the UK! Now, my head says it is a scam but everything I have done so far to reveal this has wound up verifying the car details.

Any thoughts? Surely it's a scam, right?

Reg - NC08 AFY
VIN - JN1GBAZ33U0320585

TIA

Andy

Lol, ok, ok, I got it - it's a scam! Thought as much, just needed a second opinion.....

Back to the drawing board.....I have around a £9K budget and ideally would like a UK car, GT spec, mileage not an issue. Will surely find something to meet my needs,

Cheers

The advert you linked to seems to have been removed but you may struggle to get a UK GT for that price. Don't know how much the one above was on for but an MY08 will be more like £16K+ so without doubt a scam.
Jap imports however you might have more luck with...
Don't discount them if I were you with your budget, they are just as good as the UK cars and you can get all the UK gt goodies (with exception of cruise control).
How about

Cheers chap, I can do without cruise control so perhaps I shouldn't discount the imports - other than the change over to mph on the speedo, what other "mods" should I look out for with regards to an import being pretty much equivalent to a UK-spec car?

Thanks for the link, I was looking at that one before actually but I'd rather not have to have any bodywork/panel/rims work needing doing,

I'll keep looking, with a more open mind now though!

Cheers

When the car is imported it should have the speedo changed to MPH and a fog light fitted by Law.
Everything else is very similar as I understand it, they are built in the same factory...

Other things to look out for on a JDM car is Brembo brakes are not standard on JDM but they are on UK, The japanese Sat nav can't be converted to UK easily so not really worth having, different level of traction control on base JDM models, Xenon headlights optional (standard on UK car), and limited to 112mph (easily fixed though).

There are a few other little things too but they are the major items to look out for. Imports are easily spotted by the square number plate recesses (spelling?) on the back...
Get yourself over to http://www.350z-uk.com there is normally some decent cars for sale on there and loads of info for the potential buyer (including a JDM section).

Good luck...
