Hai everyone.

I live in Oz at the moment and own a '97 40th anniversary R33 GTST.

I'm thinking about moving back to the UK soon (yeah I must be mad) and was hoping I can bring my car over as a personal effect type thing.

It is lightly modded at the moment with just POD, FMIC, Turbo back 'zaust, twin plate clutch, HKS coilovers, sway bars, various bushings etc and Enkei wheels.

It's a very clean car and in excellent shape.

Now I think I can 'import' a car as a personal possession if I owned it for 6 months at least?

What about MOT and all that BS? Compliance?

I have ongoing plans to do turbo, ECU, injectors, etc usual stuff. If I get this done before coming to the UK is it all going to be illegal? Maybe I should can those plans for now? Or ok so long as it is roadworthy? I'm a little worried 'cos I had to make a small cut for the FMIC piping to go through. It's not a structural part of the chassis but I know these people can be anal.

Cheers

Marf

The mods should not matter, its older than 10 years. So long as it passes an MOT you shouldnt have an issue.

Re:length of time owned before it becomes a personal import(i.e. not liable for tax), I though it was a year, but you best check on the DVLA website.

IVA testing is only for cars under 10 years as stated, you can avoid import tax and VAT if you are resident outside the UK for 12 months & used the car for more than 6 months. Only things needed are MOT, foglight, speedo conversion, then paperwork needed for registration...really easy!
