Impreza MY00 - what the heck is this?

As some nice person (in a car-park) rubbed my rear bumper enough to pop-out two of the fixings so it wasn't sitting straight, I've taken the bumper off.

What the heck is this? (dangling down on the right-hand side just below the reversing light) It appears to have an electric wire, and was stuck to the INSIDE of the rear bumper. It's flat and rectangular, a bit like a slightly oversized credit-card.

Is it an earth of some sort and is there anywhere inside the bumper that plastic bit attaches to??

The credit-card-sized thing was stuck to the inside of the bumper with double-sided stickytape. I'll take some close-ups before I refit.

Good call - but it would be awkward to do the wiring without the bumper removed, so I assumed it was factory-fitted... whatever it is.

Tracker antenna sounds like a very good call. I wouldn;t be surprised if it was. It's not an antenna for the car radio is it??

Does the grommit that its fitted through look undamaged and "from the factory" ?

The grommet is slightly 'out' due to I guess the extra wire shoved through it.

That's definately an Antenna. You must have a tracker fitted by the original owner.

are they just plastic fixings that hold the bumper on? i have had a knock in mine and couldnt find what was holding it on as it was dark, just need 1 fitting. i take it i need to get it from subaru? anyone know the part number or pricing assuming you can buy them?

There was a tracker fitted from new - I never bothered to renew the subscription.

Mystery solved!

There are IIRC eleven fixings across the top, and two below just behind each wheel arch, and the lower central fixing. Don't know the part numbers yet.
