Ive got an F360 challenge stradale and a 360spider, pretty hot stuff. but i decided to buy an evoX as i need a family car. WOW what a machine, luv it. FQ300 SST GRS in pearl white with carbon extras. Gear changes are mega fast, corner entry is fast.

Im new to the jap scene, what do i do now, upgrade, stripe down the middle?

Regards
Joe

Trade it in for a manual X, or even better an Evo IX. wink

Seriously though, you can get official upgrade packs for the FQ300 SST to take it to 330 bhp, but that's as far as Mitsubishi are willing to warranty the gearbox.

If you've got deep pockets, the engine can be tuned to 500 bhp relatively easily and not that expensively. This is where the manual makes sense over the SST as the SST is apparently the weak link.

Have you joined the Mitsubishi lancer register? If not, do it now, it's where over 3,000 Evo owners hang out, share information and occassionally bh about each other. There is a whole wealth of information and events on there. It's a very good club. smile

If you're dead set on keeping the SST, pm a member called juggler on the MLR (linked above). He's just gone through uprating the gearbox and I think is looking at well over 400 bhp when he's finished (400 bhp is considered almost standard power for Evos nowadays).

He can also advise on brake pads and discs. If you think your Evo is fast now, you're in for a big surprise! I was at a Car Limits day recently and the other Evos there made juggler's (stock at the time) FQ-300 SST look pedestrian.
