My 12 years of MR2 ownership came to an end this afternoon. Was involved in a head-on collision which was not my fault. My P-Reg Mk2 T-Bar is a complete right off. Sad, but these things happen. The air bag worked first time though eek.

I may return to Jap car ownership in the future wink

No, the accident was on a narrow country road, and he was coming down the hill, I was going up the hill, there was a parked car on his side, so he went to slow down and give me right of way, but his car hit ice and slid into mine as he tried to avoid the parked car.

Looked after you didn't it?! Front has crumpled pretty well but the passenger cell is fine - glad you're OK and fingers crossed insurance gives you a decent settlement!

Mid engine cars have always been good for this. There's lots of space up front because there's no engine to shove back into the passengers.

Not that I'd recommend it as a hobby!

This probably doesn't help you at this point. Good luck with the insurance, main thing is that you'll live to fight another day

Ratings to Toyota for saving you. But looking at those pictures saddens me. Another MR2 off the road. Don't worry chap, there's plenty more out there.

gutted for you man,
only good thing to come out of it is the fact that one more dodgy rover has been taken off the worlds roads.

bangheadgetmecoatredface don't know what I was thinking, yep I'm embarrassed should be WRITE off.

It's a shame, I miss my MR2 already frown. Don't think I will get another MR2 now because the TVR is my main P&J. The money I get for the write off will go towards a cheap car that I can use to get to work during the week. The MR2 is a fabulous car and I have thoroughly enjoyed my 12 years of owning onebow.

I'm afraid it's going to be another MR2 Mk2, maybe an R-reg. It will be my third one. I guess I just like the car so much.

It complements the TVR very nicely.

Crikey that looks bad at least the airbag worked and you were oksmile

I had my Scoob Wacked outside my house nearly a month ago so i now how it feels to not have your car at present i'm still waiting to find out if mine will pass the next geo check [tomorrow] the stupid thing is they've repaired the body damage then did the geo check and found the suspension was slightly bent thats 1600 quid they've spent so far being an imported Scoob and worth around £2500 i would have thought they'd have written it off but as yet not so which i'm pretty pleased about unless it all changes tomorrow!!

Eek! looks serious. glad you are OK. Good thing MR2s are tough little cars (probably why they weight 1300kg!).

why not get a turbo second time round?

(also, any chance i can buy the boxedinrear bumper off your write off?) boxedin

Put a deposit down on another MR2 at some risk though, still haven't heard from third party insurer as to whether they are going to right off my old MR2.

The new MR2 is same colour, same year (1997 R-reg), and T-Bar bouncebouncebounce

I just had to get another one wink
