Hi folks,

I recently bought a classic Impreza Turbo and I'm considering changing the front fog lights to driving lights.
Has anyone else done this and does anyone see any issues with doing it?

Ta.

No issues as long as you wire them up correctly.

PIAA used to do a kit.

I have a Hella HID kit on my 2002 bug. I bought it like that though so I have no help for you regarding installation. However any capable auto sparky should have no issues.

Setting the beam aim is a MAJOR P.I.T.A. but the results are like daylight driving. You can use the front fogs switch to turn the HID's off main beam/on main beam

Replacement bulbs in most auto factors are about £75 each iirc though, so I flea bay for about £15 each from some Eastern European bloke (think he works in the factory & takes a few 'samples' home)

Thanks for that, the PIAA kit is £270+. But I'm sure I can do similar for less.

Years ago a compay called Scoobysports used to sell a kit based on the Cibie Oscars plus', like the ones in this link (NTDWM) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/A-Pair-of-Valeo-Cibie-Oscar-...

Here is a pic on a car:

Because they are flat backed they were bolted through the back to a T shaped bracket in 3mm steel that in turn could be mounted to the three original foglight holes. Adjustment was by washers as the mounting was almost vertical to the road.

The only other modification was to remove the orginal Cibie mounting bracket.

If you can replicate the T shaped braket with steel and jigsaw, it will be a lot cheaper than a new kit.

Personally, I alwasy prefered the Cibie 5 and 3/4 inch twin headlight replacements,as they gave better dipped lighting than the standards as well.
