New Video of my one-off LS2 V8 Miata. It's 1196 Lbs lighter than a New R35 Skyline and out accelerates it too, with it's LS2's dynoed 438 HP. T-56 six speed, Ford 8.8 IRS 3:73 posi.

Knowing how we all love controversy, thought I'd Fuel some of your Thoughts. This is a complete one-off, ground up build costing about the same as a Kit Cobra

Thanks http://www.youtube.com/user/LS2V8Miata?feature=mob...

Not too sure I like the exhaust note, however otherwise quite brilliant smile

How has the weight distribution been affected by the V8 up front, I assume the diff is heavier than standard so this must help the balance a bit? The engine installation looks very neat and tidy, a lovely bit of work.

50/50 has been retained, between what was removed and what was installed Total Vehicle weight increased by only 90 Lbs. Rear-end is a cast iron Ford 8.8 IRS with an Eaton Posi and 3:73 gears, Ready for abuse!

Have a great Week-end!

I does sound a little raspy on the vid, but my experience is these engines sound very different in person, much deeper and with loads more bass that a cam corder just can't capture.

Awesome little car IMO biggrin

It's 100% One-off design /fab/ build. Martin Wilson (Monster Miata Kit owner) is a friend and shared info over the years. It took me 3-1/2 years to build and all we used of the Miata was Body & Glass.

Yup the camcorder doesn't do the Real Sound justice, although on the loud side the deep rumble at idle is intimidating even sitting next to a Viper or GT 500 Mustang at a stoplight.

What's not to love about a little car with a stupidly oversized engine?! Top man!

I'm all for stick stupidly big engines in little cars and UK history is full of them

AC Ace - big Yank V8 made it into a Cobra
Sunbeam Alpine - big Yank V8 made it into the Tiger
TVR Grantura - big Yank V8 made it into the TVR Griffith

thumbup

My turbo MX5 isn't exactly a slug with ~280bhp but I can only imagine what that thing is like to drive! Very much a modern-day Cobra IMO, though changing so many parts must change the character of the car a lot?
