Need to get my brakes sorted out on my Legacy and don't fancy paying main dealer prices......

Can anyone recommend an independent around Crawley ?

Need seized caliper sorting and some new pads.

Head up the road a bit towards J11 of the M25 / J3 of the M3 and you'll find Greenwood Racing.

If your just needing a caliper unsiezed and new pads fitting why not just use a trusted independent? Its a brake caliper and pads, nothing unique to the Legacy.

My Legacy estate has just been diagnosed with a seized caliper - and I'm getting quoted £400+ to fix it, as it's a Subaru-specific part apparently. Couple of posts here saying that generic parts can be used - can anyone tell me definitively which is the case? If an aftermarket part can be used, a link would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Sam

Most Subaru parts are standard across the car range Impreza/Forester/Legacy and if its standard/basic 2 pot front brakes or single pot rears, there are hundreds out there for £25 a pop. In fact subaru use calipers that were originally designed for Nissan.

Your problem is going to be indtifying what type you have. Your best bet for a first stopis the GTB forum, set up specifically for Legacy owners, to find out what fits and then Scoobynet or SIDC (or even Ebay) to find a unseized second hand set.

they you are just looking at an hours labour, and some new brake fluid for a local garage to fit the new unit.
