Hi can anyone tell me what it is and is it reliable, seen some ads saying NO ACTIVE AERO as if its trouble? Its on a Twin Turbo GTO

I believe it's something to do with the rear spoiler having 2 parts to it. A fixed spoiler with a moving (Active) part that raises the angle of the rear of the spoiler for more downforce presumably.

I think that's right smile

yes

I think both the front and rear spoilers did that on the top-spec GTO/3000GT. The fact its mentioned that way in ads would imply its one of the many things that can go wrong. wink

if the ad is for a GTO MR (lightweight edition) it would be correct as that model came with "NO ACTIVE AERO" to save weight.

I didn't know the front spoiler did that too. eek

Sounds pretty clever, but did it work/have any real effect or was it just a bit of flashy tech??

Mitsubishi chucked all the gizmos at the GTO.

I had a GTO Twin Turbo for 5 years - with the active aero's.

As mentioned the rear spoiler is flat below 50mph, but it changes it's angle above that speed - likewise, there is a front spoiler that drops at that speed. I think when it goes back to about 30mph, the rear spoiler goes flat again and the front spoiler tucks back into the bumper.

I think I got those speeds right, I might be wrong - I had mine switched off because they didn't work as they should - which is pretty common, but I believe there was an easy enough fix for it.

Spot on - if it isn't working it is most likely the rear spoiler microswitches which are easy enough to replace. Sometimes the front fails due to being smacked on speed humps or if the bushes seize. The front and back are linked so if one fails, the other will stop working as well. I believe independent tests were done and the spoilers do have an affect above a certain (illegal) speed.
