Hi, just got a 53 plate Celica T Sport today, been out for a spin this evening, been 25 miles or so and it's started sounding a bit clattery. I came home to check it over, not that I have much of a clue what's going on in there, but it doesn't seem to make the same noise when stationary, any ideas?

Is it only happening at high revs? There's a common problem with the 'Lift' part of the VVTLi.

Lift bolts might need replacing by the sound of it. Cheap to do, and you can do yourself, but horribly expensive if not done and left too long.

Thanks for the replies, it has done 78k so that sounds likely. It happens all the way through the rev range. I think I'll ring the dealer and see where I stand, I think I want rid of it to be honest.
