Nissan 350GT or Mazda 6 MPS

Depends what you want, the Mazda gets brilliant reviews, is quite stealthy, pratical and has seats in the back. 4WD
The 350 gets excellent reviews, is rather brash, not pratical (well in comparison to a large saloon car), and has no back seats. RWD.
I must admit its not really 2 cars that you will see compared often.

350GT has 2+2 seating... making it more comparable with the 6MPS (although hardly the same car)

I'd definitely get the GT... with some nice wheels that fill the arches a bit I think they look pretty good in an understated kind of way... the 6MPS is a great car, but just soooooo dull to look at I think...

Can't offer you a comparison as I've never tried the Nissan, I can however comment on the MPS having owned and run one as a company car.
The Mazda is a great car, and does all it says on the Tin, but is annonymous which was a plus point for me when making my choice (Focus ST and Astra VXR).
As has been said, you really need to try them both, I would imangine the Nissan would get the initial Wow factor when you are in the flush of new purchase excitment, but do give the Mazda serious consideration its excellent and bulletproof.

Neighbour's friends/relatives have a red 6MPS and it's very nice. Looks quite retrained from the outside and seems to have a nice interior.

They're going to feel completely and utterly different to drive, it's just a case of trying them and deciding what fits you best.

Hi mate it really depends on your driving style and use for the car, for a quick b road blast it would be the mazda, if you love going sideways it would be the 350gt, but two completely different cars and yes you can seat two adults in the back on the 350 gt. But one main thing to consider is the road tax the mazda qualifies for the full monty £400 quid a year unless its a 05 plate ( not seen too many of these) whereas the 350 gt does not but as mentioned sale values are always higher for the gt, my advice mate is drive them both and go from there
Well the 350GT comes in a few flavors.
1) the coupe, which is the 2+2 but is essentially the same as the 350z with a different body.
2) the sedan, (as in my profile), which is an uglier, but much more spacious car than the coupe. Reclining rear seats, and all that guff.
3) AWD, which has the same awd system as the R34 as far as I am aware.
4) RWD, which is... Erm, rwd.
All have the same 3.5 V6 as the 350Z of the same year, same chassis, and many of the parts are interchangeable between the 350Z and 350GT.
The coupe is a prettier car than the sedan, but is also slightly heavier, so the sedan is actually slightly quicker.

Sorry I haven't been back for a while.
when I purchase one of these cars it won't be my main car. I just can't make my mind up if I want something thats looks very nice but not as quick as it looks. Or something that looks dull but will F**k off Ford ST owners.

The main thing that puts me off the 350GT is it's a import and you never really know what millage these things have ever done. I am willing to spend about 8-12k.
I'm not allowed a Subaru STI off the Mrs
Anyone got another car I they could suggest?

I don't know the performance numbers... but I wouldn't have thought so...?the 350GT will be ~290bhp (import, so better numbers than the 276bhp UK 350's, but will need optimax etc)... a bit heavier than the mazda maybe.. but I wouldn't think there'd be much to choose performance wise??

As a 350GT owner, (the sedan, rather than the coupe), they do have good engines, and a huge amount of mods are available, as it is the same engine as from the 350Z, (and same chassis, in fact the skyline got the chassis before the 350z). The auto box is OK, and the manual side of it leaves you a decent amount of control, although if the revs drop too much it will change down for you. The 6MT is the one to get, (I can't as I have a very goosed ankle), and it will hoof along quite nicely. The later versions have the LSD as standard on the sport models, (spottable by the red shocks used). Very comfortable cars, and electric everything. And acquired look, in my opinion, but the coupe is easily the prettier of the 2 cars. The sedan has reclinable rear seats, but the rears don;t fold down. It does have the ski hole thingy, however. Avoid the doggy door version, (2003), and get a 2003.5 onwards. The earlier versions also had the aluminium effect centre console, whereas the later ones had a real aluminium centre console. Brakes are good, but I wouldn't use them on a track day. I'd get better disks and pads. Rear legroom in the sedan is excellent, by the way, as is boot space.As for performance, I'd say it sat between the BMW 330, and the 335. Handling is good, in my opinion, and the weight distribution is 49/51 as far as I can remember. The sedan would be a bit of a sleeper in the UK I reckon.
