Hi,

The rear pads on my 05 WRX have more or less died, so I need to replace them. The car is only used on the road, predominantly by my wife so I need something that will last reasonably well and provide good performance without needing warming up, etc! The current pads don't provide much initial bite (I'm not sure they are OEM) so an improvement on this would be nice.

Any recommendations?

Thanks,

jasemac

I replaced the standard Subaru pads ('54 plate WRX) with some EBC Yellowstuff, and they were terrible. Try Ferodo DS2500 or Mintex M1144 instead.

Cheers for the suggestions chaps but they seem to be slightly contradictory...

I was under the impression DS2500's needed a bit of heat through them an wouldn't they be a bit of a mismatch assuming OEM front pads?

Yellowstuff need a few dabs of the brakes to get them up to heat. I use them all round and they are very effective. They get better with more heat and just keep working thereafter so very good for trackdays where you are repeatedly using the brakes hard. Your fluid will boil and give you a super soft pedal well before these pads give up.

For everyday use Redstuff are probably much better and a small upgrade on the OEM pads. They work well from cold and can be used for a bit of fast road but won't stay the course like Yellowstuff.

Failing EBC try Mintex or Performance Friction.

I've just changed my pads all round on a 53 WRX. I had DS2500 on the front and Redstuff on the back.

I've gone with Godspeeds Kevlar pads all round. I only use the car back and fore to work and the occassional country road hoon. They are great pads (cost is very reasonable) work from cold and haven't faded on me yet after getting some heat in them.

I haven't got their number to hand but google them. Ian is a top bloke and will give sound advice and his delivery service is excellent (order before 4pm and they are normally delivered next morning).
