Very constructive LOL!

If its like the MR2 i had the doors have a very stupid autolock feature if the doors are not used withing a certain space of time, so i am thinking you may have to call the AA, they will get in it for you, you will just wate a lot of fuel waiting for them to turn up! Sorry mate.

I thought i was being constructive. You'll be properly buggered if you haven't got a spare key to get in the car!! Anyhow, thats the first time i've heard it happening on an old classic. Very unusual indeed!!

I've heard it happening on the odd newage car due to the alarm/central locking programming (Anti-Hijack Mode) which can be switched on/off via the pullout keypad with the right sequence of numbers.

I sincerely hope it doesn't happen to you again because if you're out and about and this happens you're in the ste!! Next time you decide to leave the car running and you shut the door for whatever reason.....leave a window open wink

Too late now I am sure, however.
Put something in exhaust to stall car.
You should be able to remove the grill and then get to the bonnet release, you may need to undo the securing bolts to help.
Disconnect battery and if lucky it may unlock when you reconnect battery.
Otherwise coat hanger throw window shut etc.

Mt old '90 Legacy VZ used to do that until I pulled the central lock fuse out of it.

Would lock itself when you started moving as some cars do... then stop, unlock door, open door, close door... click. Door locked, driver outside, car still running. I took to always carrying a spare key in my wallet.

I did this in my 1994 import STi! When I first got it was examining the engine bay with car running and I closed the door.....FAIL rolleyes ! It locked itself (Toad central locking/alarm/immob.)

Spare key was 1.5hrs away (visiting parents), car running (noisey)....bonnet up. I could atleast stop the engine running but getting in was another problem...I did not want the alarm going off while I struggled to get in it and disconnecting battery would not stop alarm....so I was in a bit of a pickle.

In the end I managed to break in to the car with a metal coat hanger and half a clothes peg with no damage what so ever! It was very easy.....worringly, I think I could do it in 2 minutes if I did it again. I won't put my exact method on here because I don't feel comfortable doing that. Needless to say if I had seen this I could have helped! Ooops too late!
