It's probably too late to ask as I've already ordered it, but does anyone have a k+n panel filter in their Impreza's, and if so, has it made any (slight or otherwise) power improvement?

Don't do it. The oil can knacker your MAF.

I've just noticed by the pic on your profile that you drive a Blobeye in which case your MAF will be fine. Just pop the MAF out after 200-300 miles and give it a gentle clean with the jet of a pressurised brake cleaner, Holts is very good and evaporates very quickly.

From the large number of MAF sensors i've inspected now on both early and later newage cars it's common for owners to never ever clean their MAF's so it may well be you MAF would benefit from a clean anyway.

You'll soon know if it's dirty by the amount of black dirt that builds up on side of the sensor blob that faces airside.

You've still got to change the STi filter as often as the std OE filter. Baring in mind the test that was done a little while back in Banzai, didn't the K&N make more horses than the Cosworth paper filter which i imagine is pretty similar to the STi paper Filter??

The K&N came second to the DoLuck foam filter which flowed the most, by quite a margin, never used one before though.

Thanks for the advice, but having fitted it today I have to say that there is a noticeable difference in engine pick-up. For £30-odd quid it's a great start on improving your engine performance. It certainly won't set the world on fire but it was well worth the investment.smile

It won't set your car on fire either but it will make the airbox now useful for over 400bhp.
