Subaru Legacy clock / computer common fault ?

I've just bought myself a late 2003 ( later shape) legacy estate. 2.5 SE Auto with black leather.

The only problem it has is that the clock / computer has packed up . The previous owner said it had worked intermittently until it eventually gave up . He also said it was a common problem . Anyone had any experience of this and how did you resolve it. Any repair solutions or is it a dealer only part , and if so do they charge full price or contribute toward it as a known issue.

I've had a quick look on google for answers , seems the US has had issues and fixed under recall but no mention of it in the UK

keep searching, there is a fix explained online. it shows you how to remove the clock and how to resolde. I did mine but has packed in again

I have the same problem with a 04 2.5 Legacy, did you have any luck getting yours fixed .all suggestions welcome thanks

No , just lived with it in the end , found one on a parts website for £80 second hand but decided not to bother , Legacy since been replaced with another car

Not sure about the removal for the Legacy because I have Forester but the soldering is straight forward and I am not very good at soldering
