As above really. Strange, never known anything like this

Only had the car (UZZ31) a few days, all has been fantastic except earlier today I stopped, switched the car off, whipped the key out and stepped out - but - the engine's still running.. eek

Left it for 20 min to do what I'd come to do, came back, still going. Since then it's done it every time for quite a bit of driving.

confused

I've found the only way I can stop the engine is to reinsert the key, and turn it on as if I was starting it (engines running though) and the starter makes a sharp noise, stalling it. Obviously not very good for anything.

So can anyone help?

What's going on with my soarer, is it an easy fix and how can I fix it or who should I take it to?

Any help advice or similar experiences much appreciated as a bit stuck really.. ?!!

(have popped this on the Soarer specific forum but sometimes not the busiest so thought I'd try here too smile )

Probably better to hold it on the brake and stall it to kill the engine, rather than using your starter method.

Ok cheers forgive the silly question but would this still work on an auto?

Have you checked the ignition switch to see if it isn't broken internally?

Just a thought but does this have, as on the LSs, a function that moves the steering wheel into/out of place when starting/stopping? Some electrical gremlin related to this?

Until you get it fixed , find out what you need to remove to stop the engine when you park

ETA

I used to have an Audi 100 years ago that did this , that was a faulty ignition switch

Thanks very much indeed all - stuart, I *think* you may have just cracked it - when I started running the car, this was disabled. All worked fine. Then, being a man, I started pressing all the buttons - since I've had the completely useless steering retract gadget running it's been doing it. Totally hadn't made the link in my mind. As soon as I get back will switch it off and hooopefully that'll fix it..

PH comes up trumps once again thumbup

..fingers crossed

Hopped in this evening, turned off the "auto steering wheel retract" jobbie, started it and it turned off perfectly.

Hopefully fingers crossed that's cracked it weirdly - thanks chaps smile
