Thinking of buying Lexus IS F
Discussion
I have seen very few on the road, and more than a few in Lexus showrooms. A great car, some unusual styling and a little fussy, but beautifully made and seriously quick. Struggles in the UK / Europe against Audi, BMW and M-B (AMG), however sells across the rest of the world well.
Go for a drive, look at running costs and away you go. There are however better cars as toys, but it is 'horses for courses'.

Hi, we've got one. It's quick, well made, as you'd expect, and fun.
The ride, however, is disappointingly harsh, worse than my Evo 8, and I'm currently discussing my options about aftermarket suspension with Fensport, who do a couple of coilover kits, one of which is designed to address this.
In spite of this, it's still preferable to the V10 M5 we had previously, much better steering, and torque that feels more available more of the time.
Cheers, Andy.
Just to add, my foot's never off the floor.......

Go for it, super car, nearly bought one, but a right price 911 came along and i pulled out. There is something very special about the car, i loved the test drive it was a brilliant car, and unlike most high performance cars you never have to worry about it blowing up. A nice black one i suggest.

Lol, agreed, ours is black, best colour and still the only one I've seen that colour....it did bang on the money performance wise at Thorney Island quarter mile earlier in the year, 13 dead @ 116 mph, high terminal for the time, what it loses against my much modded Evo 8 off the line it gets back again on the road after about 80 mph, feels very strong as it gets into it's stride.Doubt I'll see a genuine 173 mph with such ease in the Evo either! So much for the Lexus being limited to 168....

Go for it. Had mine a year now and love it. I have had a string of sports cars before this (needed more than two seats) and I was worried I would find it a little boring. Not so, it's a great drive, fast enough to keep me smiling, amazing grip, good steering, etc, etc but as above, the ride is very harsh. I live out in the sticks where the roads aren't too well maintained, and this can be a real problem sometimes. The best bit is the noise though - when the second air intake hits above 3500rpm it sounds like nothing else on earth. I go there quite often.
It's equipped very well indeed - the only option being a sunroof - and it has everything you could ever need and a few more you probably don't, for good measure. It's beautifully built, but perhaps looking a little dated inside now. The service from the dealers is fabulous - like a breathy of fresh after years of BMW/Jag/etc, etc. I also like the subtle styling, and it's not an M3 (i.e. it's a touch different and not the 'obvious choice'). Price wise they're better value than an M3, C63, etc - even more so when you take the kit count into consideration.
As a daily for me it's almost perfect

I have considered one but not sure whether I would be disappointed with the performance. I would have considered the IS-F as a replacement for my old BMW550, but not perhaps for the GTR I currently have though.
Perhaps if I go back to a 2 car setup - then maybe a Gallardo and IS-F?
Would be interested to hear more on the driving experience from owners though!

Well, may or may not be relevant after all this time, but our IS-F just got better with the addition of Tien springs and dampers sourced 2nd hand. They may well be a one off set, but the ride height remains the same, as does the handling ( improved on bumpy roads ). Much, much, much better ride, comparable to our previous IS250 now. It's now the car Lexus should have signed off in the first place!
