Nissan Note - recoding key

So, the stealer wants £82 to recode my dad's spare key and he isn't keen to tip up

Anyone know how to do it? Does it need special kit?

Sorry, not DIY. You need a Consult (Nissan Diag Computer) and the NATS code for this. £82 sounds expensive, we charge around £35 and we are a dealer. Unusual for Note keys to need recoding though ~ what is the problem with it?
