Just bought some 18" rims for my GT.
When I had the standard rims on the car was lowered with springs by 30mm, since now having 18" on and with the lower profile on the new tyres, the gap between the tyre and wheel arch has increased.

So I was thinking now of getting coilovers allround!

If I get coilovers can I decrease this gap I have with the new wheels?
I am looking at BR coilovers.

Any help would be gratefull.

Whatever size wheels you fit, the tyre diameter should be kept the same. Otherwise your speedo and odometer will read incorrectly. If your wheel arch gap has increased without changing your suspension settings then your new tyres might be too low profile, in which case your indicated speed will be higher than actual speed. Somewhere on the GTOUK site there's a link to the wheel & tyre bible web site. Someone here might know it.
Evil Empire do a range of lowering spring setups and Rob will talk your ears off advising you which will best suit your needs.

Thank for getting back!

The profile sizes are smaller because the wheels i have now are wider also than standard, and the tyres on the back are wider too.

You also need the same tyre diameter front & back. Otherwise the front-rear transfer box can be damaged.

My GTO is lowered by about 40mm but I wouldn't recommend it except for track use. Kerbs, gutters, potholes and speed humps can be a real pain!
