Evo 6 gsr or tommi wanted
Discussion
Correct me if I'm wrong, I had a 6 GSR for a while, but from what I learnt there were no UK GSRs. Mitsubishi never imported them, instead a small number of dealers imported them to sell them. They will be known as 'Ralliart' These were the UK Dealer imported versions.
Not sure on Tommy Macs, although a classic, I'd rather a Imported 6 RS with the Mechanical rear Diff.

I own 2 Bodyshops in London & Croydon and have been repairing them since they were new, Tried to buy One New years ago .but wouldnt give me discount so the deal was never done,
Gatwick MITSUBISHI used to sell the cars New .. GSRs & TME...they were all numbered
Im not going to start dogging of imports upsetting everyone whos bought one, But they werent built to come here,

My UK Ralliart EVO 6 is for sale if you're interested?
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2151014.htm
It's classed as a UK car and not 'import'.
It is the RSII version which means it has the RS DIFF (this is sometimes sought after if you are planning to do trackdays, modify it to large BHP or convert it to competition car). Also much preffered by many drivers who don't like electronics interfering with driving (personal prefference here).
Mileage on these cars is not much of a problem if its been looked after, which mine has.
As you'll know, a modified car with few miles on it can have an engine/drivetrain on 'its last legs' compared to a relavitely unstressed engine/drivetrain with many more miles on the clock.
Mine is more or less standard in terms of 'mods' and the high milage was done when petrol was cheap and the first owner used it to commute from Scotland to London - relatively easy motorway miles.

You might not be aware, but all Evos JDM or UK are built the same. The difference between a "uk" car and a Import is that the "UK" ones were imported by Colt Car Company. Even the newer 7-9 Evos are all the same and then Modified by CCC to become a FQ-300/330 etcGatwick MITSUBISHI used to sell the cars New .. GSRs & TME...they were all numbered

Undersealing is the least of the worries on a 12+ year old car most if not all will have been done by now and many wont have ever seen a winter anyhow
Condition, condition and condition, history is relavant only if its backed up by the condition. I personally wouldnt hold great stock in the cars that came through the CCC

Just for a starter jap cars were never undersealed.. I used to underseal them for a very big import company, About 20 a week.
As i said before , not going down that route, If youve purchase one with eyes wide open good luck,,,
Ok thats fair enough. I bought mine based on condition, wasn't fussed if it was uk or import. I did make sure I got it undersealed as soon as I bought it, but it was rust free.As i said before , not going down that route, If youve purchase one with eyes wide open good luck,,,

Same here, as you mentioned, they were all constructed in Japan to one specification, aslong as you give the car a good going over I see no real reason to prefer a UK car to a Import if they are of the same quality. Unless of course you are talking about the RSII Versions.Hope you find a nice one, have you checked the MLR?
MLR is the best resource to use though! And their magazine isn't too bad either!

With Evos there are always exceptions to the rule:...
1) the Evo VIII 260. It was never sold in Japan. I'm not sure where it was built, but I assume it was in the same factory as the rest of the JDM models in Japan.
2) the Evo VII FQ-300. This started life as an Evo VII RSII, which is an Evo model specifically designed for export and was never sold in Japan.
3) the Evo VI RSII. As per the Evo VIII FQ-300.

Oh right, I never knew that! So VII FQ-300 dont have AYC?1) the Evo VIII 260. It was never sold in Japan. I'm not sure where it was built, but I assume it was in the same factory as the rest of the JDM models in Japan.

The VII FQ-300 does have AYC, as far as I'm aware.I'm not too hot on the various RSII specs, but it's quite possible that the spec. changed between the VI and VII. I do know that the RSII spec is an export only model though - it wasn't available in Japan and its why the UK VI and VII models are based on it and not the GSR.
My brother owns a grey import VII GSR and that caused us all sorts of confusion - it has electric folding mirrors, a double din hole in the dash and climate control, all of which the VII RSII/FQ-300 does not.
Thanks for your comments & help...
I had a look at 4 or 5 wasnt up to much, Every one i looked at underneath was rotten or badly rusted,
Anyway cut a long story short, Bought a New Evo X 330 SST GSR in Silver,, Picked it up today at 12 & used a tank of petrol having fun,,, Thanks again for the comments
