I don't own either. But when this crops up the outcome tends to be the 9 is more focused/hardcore and the 10 is a better daily prospect. I think long term the 9's will hold their value better.
Having driven both before purchasing I went for the Ix fq 360 because of the above really. That said, I bought mine for a weekend toy rather than a daily driver so it may depend on how you want to use it.juggers said:
I would go for a 9 fq360 as the 10 is to lardy ..................better yet why not go for a impreza sti spec c...much better car IMO.
Really?http://www.lancerregister.com/showthread.php?t=366...
The X is heavy which causes some to use the term lardy.
However having driven both the 9 and X 360, the X is the better handling car, fact.
The X has big moves forward in the chassis along with better dampers making it on a UK roads truly superb car.
Yes a Spec C or EVO 9 MR *might/should* be slightly better on the race track due to very stiff suspension setups, the EVO X is the better car on UK roads full of bumps, cambers etc.
Then when it comes to creature comforts the X is 9x better than them both.
Basically the X is 90% better in specification and comforts, but only looses 10% of the hardcore edge from the previous models and I preferre that in a car, when your cruising its a nice place to be and when your on it well its just like EVO's of old with just a far better chassis.
P.S. I've got an X FQ-360 going very cheap if interested with tons of goodies on it too, easily best priced in the UK and in superb condition.

Its horses for courses as I find the 9 more responsive and a much better all round car. It might not be as refined as the X,but if I was after refinement I would buy an Audi rs.
The spec c also has all the creature comforts such as air con however chassis wise the spec c wins it for me. Having driven every evo and impreza from 2001+ for me the hawkeye spec c has to be the best out of the bunch.

Hawkeye Spec C is awsome, but again the X chassis and damper setup is better tuned to UK roads. Also the Spec C is just not a patch on an EVO X when it comes to spec or interior. The spec c also has all the creature comforts such as air con however chassis wise the spec c wins it for me. Why buy an Audi RS, seems a poor argument.
Audi RS4, older, more money, fast but does not feel quick and you were talking lardy earlier, now your recommending a 1700kg plus car.
I've driven pretty much every Audi RS and the best in my view is the TT RS, because it only weighs around 1450kg, has a superb engine, the only issue is its like every Audi, nose heavy and understeery. The X in comparison is a far sharper chassis and a lot more controllable and fun at the limits.
I'd vote for the 9, as it uses the 4G63 engine, a block used in every Evo since the beginning. The Evo 10 has a new alloy block, 4B11. There are much more tuning bits available for the former engine, as it's been around the block longer.
See what I did there? Been around the block... geddit? I'll get my coat. Still get the 9 though!
Opinions will vary, and are, of course, subjective.....I have an 8, modified to 9 spec, and wouldn't consider a 10. It's your opinion that counts, go to a dealer and have a decent drive on the same roads in both.
As already mentioned, if it's likely to be a long term purchase, then a late model, high spec 9 will likely be more sought after in future. Rightly or wrongly, they'll be regarded as the last of the real Evos, and I would expect that to be reflected in the resale. They take a little commitment to own, but they're fabulously rewarding.
