All servicing is cheap really.

Correct, chain driven. Good for 100k+ but if it's over 80k i'd just get it checked when it's serviced. Generally a good, solid engine. I doubt you'll see a bill over £200 if you go to a dealer but if there isn't a specialist around it's no harm going back to base as it's a well known car unlike the MK1 or MK2.

What's the room like in these? I sat in one many moons ago and can't remember if they're spacious enough for a 6 ft medium built guy. A nice car if it's a second cat for the weekends.

Relatively spacious inside(for a 2 seater) but literally bugger all storage space.

rofl Get this man his own show.

Personally, i wouldn't touch a pre-2003 (facelift) car as the engine is nothing short of ste. Unless, like me, it's for a project.

I say that having had to replace more than 10 of them due to issues from lack of oil manifesting itself in lots of ways.

I know Olly shoehorns V6 engines from the Camry into the back of MR2's so a 2litre engine should be fine.

Oh I know the 3SGTE will go in there, just wondering about with an ST205CC. They make the engine a fair bit taller overall.

That's what Gary did Marf, it fits but i'm no fan of chargecoolers, just not enough benefit for the weight.

Much better with a good quality/size intercooler.

It will fit though, yep.

Where do you fit the intercooler in the mk3?

There's room behind either side vent, just like the mk2.

I thought it was the lter ones that were chain driven. They changed the rear lights, had front fogs and a 6 speed box. I think it was 2003.

All Mk3's are chain driven. They just revised the engine post 2003.

Saying that though, i just got a message from my mate this morning with a 2004 and surprise surprise....oval bore syndrome.

Out of curiosity, how much does it cost to source and fit the V6 these days? I had an MR2 Roadster back in the day and wouldn't mind getting back into one as a weekend toy but don't want to be putting fresh oil in it every 1000 miles like the last one i had!! More power would always be good in the Roadster too. How much more does the V6 weigh and what power does it produce??

Cheers,
Ian
