Am looking to replace the filter in the STI and wondering what's the best option? On all Andy Forrest upgrades he specifies a K&N panel filter but I know lots of people have the Green panel filter.

Questions is, which gives the most performance gain?

Thanks in advance.

I am not sure they give a real performance gain, at least not without a map. A jap mag claimed that the Do-Luck panel filter added 13bhp, but I just cannot see that being correct. I run a green cotton along with an exhaust system and map (336bhp). It’s not just about any bhp increase, its more important that it provides good filtration.

I think they all claim around 10bhp.

You won't go wrong with a K&N or Green Panel. Either will do the job well!!

If you want a 2 week old K&N I have one that I don't want sitting in my drawer any more.
I was told that the 99 engine in the P1 had the weakest MAF sensor of all Subarus and after buying a K&N I was told not to use an oily filter such as that.
Annoying as it really increased the induction noise if nothing else and an STi panel was more expensive but acting on advice I changed over. Oh...and bought a new MAF sensor as a precaution. Not sure if that was £100 well spent and will probably never find out but did it anyway!
PM me if you want my brand new K&N panel.

I recently got a Green Cotton panel filter for my WR1 and the turbo seems to spool up a bit quicker now with the increased air flow.
