BMW Ipod Connection & Playlists

Morning all.
Collected my 2007 BMW 550i at the weekend, which I had the BMW ipod kit fitted. What I'd like to be able to do is select a playlist and then randomly play tracks through that list. However, if I select Random All or Random Directory once in the playlist (CD1) it will random the first song then when I manually select next track it just plays the next song in that album, rather than going on to the next random track.
It used to work on my 1 series perfectly, but then that didn't involve iDrive
Any ideas?
