I've seen loads of these on eBay, but they all have the DIN hole to the left.

I've heard on the grapevine that BMW dealers will sell you a facia adapter with a DIN hole in the centre. Is this true? If so, does anyone know what the part number is?

Lastly, how do you actually get the OEM radio (and any surrounding trim replaced by the adapter) out of the car?

Pull the trim off that runs above the radio and then undo the two screws behind.
The trim is on pins, so just wiggle it off.

The trims are offset as the oem radio is, you will need to get a hacksaw on the factory radio cage to get a radio to sit central.

Have a look on www.realoem.com under E46 and Navigation radio upgrade.
Parts numbers are there for a new cage and the trim.

This is the OEM trim, with the Becker Indianapolis, BMW version....

Thanks. Presumably I could just use the cage that comes with my head unit and take out the factory cage altogether?

Factory HU does not have a cage, held in by two screws visible once trim pieces have been removed, but yes, use the aftermarket HU cage.

The cage holds the climate as well.

If you search google there are guides on how to adapt it in 30 mins.

When I bought the centred trim for mine, I bought a replacement cage with a centre mounting for the HU as well. I don't have the part numbers to hand, but I got them both from the dealer. Didn't have to hack anything, and I can put it back to factory spec if I want.

Hi Guys

I just wanted to share this with you all as I know how ugly the of center din looks. I ordered this and it fitted my E46 M3 2004 and even allowed me to add the shroud around the unit.

Well worth the money.
