Outside Marylebone station this morning was a new 7 series and I noticed what I can only describe as a light bulb sort of thing in the lower grille in the front, (but not one of the small front lights). I've marked the location on the pic. What would it be? Seemed to be in a bit of a vulnerable place for a glass bulb?

Cheers.

Sounds like it. Googled BMW active cruise control and got this.

Thanks chaps, much appreciated.

They are located in the wing mirrors

Are they? On the 6 series i was nosing around, they were on the front wings. Surely if they were on the wing mirrors, they wouldn't be much good anyway?

Not to mention this probably isn't what the OP is referring to, as they are about the same size as parking sensors. It will have been the active cruise control radar on the front bumper like the one pictured above.

Nope, the front cameras for junctions are fitted to the left and right hand sides of the front bumper.

The wing mirror cameras are to assist with parking in tight spaces.
(see here: http://www.bmw.com/com/en/newvehicles/7series/seda... )

Not that it matters as the OP has solved it already. smile
