I've recently bought a standard looking 328ise and was wandering wether I can fit a set of m3 side skirts to it. There is already a metal type skirt on it do the plastic ones just fit over them?

Yes, they do.

There's a fitting template available from BMW but you can fit them without it if you have patience and some common sense.
