Interested in a new 3dr M Sport 118d, anyone any ideas of what discount to push for , given that the 1 series is being replaced soon?

Personally I wouldn't buy a new one outright given the replacement is due shortly, instead I'd be looking for PCP/ CH deals or nearly new examples. In answer to your question, Broadspeed seems to generally quote the cheapest new BMW prices so look on there to get an idea for discounts.

Good call, buying new would only make sense with a big (>10%) discount. I will check out Broadspeed, but am put off Broadspeed/Auoebid by the requirement for up front commission/broker fees.

Anyone know when the new 1 series is officially launched in the UK?

New 1 series is premiered in September, so we will probably see it before Christmas on the roads.

I would wait, they are going to drop like a stone, interior starting to feel really dated now.

I have had two and loved them, but would only buy now at a great price and a couple of years old.

Actually, even if you buy used at 2 years old you will still get stung, clear out deals will whack the prices down and new will follow suit. I would get a contract hire for £199 a month over 24 months, the deals are out there.

When my parents tried to go and buy one 2 weeks ago we were told of a 19 week waiting list as they were being made to order now due to the recession.

The dealers say that the 5 door is being replaced initially and the 3 door will continue in production for a couple more years. I suppose I should not necessarily believe them in their quest for a sale. I was quoted 12 weeks for a factory order 3 door, there are very few cars in stock apparently.

I heard the current Coupe/ Convertible are staying on sale as they got updated very recently, but the 3dr/ 5dr hatchbacks will be replaced.

Its the same with everything German/ VAG. Don't think its necessarily recession related.
