Despite a poor experience with the paint quality on my 635d Sport, (Carbon Black) I am giving some serious consideration to buying a lightly specced F10 essentially as a business tool.

I'm not really that bothered by the colour of the car but would be interested to learn if any of the paints perform any better than others.

Do either the Non-metallic or Xirallic finishes wear any better than the Metallic paints?

Also, within the various metallic finishes do any of the individual colours wear better?

Would be interested to learn of any good or bad experiences.

Hi,

I can only share my experience of buying a Carbon Black F10 see http://pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f... .

Amazing car in every other way, its a real shame they can't get the paint right and don't seem to care.

The great thing about 2nd hand BMW's is that you can always tell if it's had any paint.....you just look for an area without orange peel;)

I've got a theory about this...I've got an E70 X5 and have no problems with the paint and have hardly seen any complaints on the X5 forums. I wonder if the paint from the US factory is better than cars produced in Europe ? No idea why that would be though.
