I Promise this is not a shameless plug for my car!! but I want to know off others who are selling at present wether they have been inundated with calls?

My 335d coupe (08) has been on PH now for 2 weeks and not one phone call same on autotrader, I have priced it about £1500 less than anything else on there as I want a quick sale, (We are moving abroad with work... we leave in 3 weeks!) its not got every optional extra but most of the ones that count, its in great condition, low miles (40k) and has all the main dealer serves history plus its will remain under warranty along with free servicing.....

At £18k I think its an absolute steal why does no one else seem to???

Again not a plug but am I missing something!!!????

Thanks

This one doesn't make your car look like a 'cheap' car when you compare the spec/price etc.

I Take your point but it has been mapped and is a year older...... the spec is better I agree but would the "mapped" put people off?

Some yes, some no.

Point being it is for sale at a dealer (don't know anything about them but guess they offer 'full dealer facilities', finance etc which some may want), is the M/Sport model and has full leather and nav and roof, don't take this the wrong way but your car seems quite standard in the spec department and there is only £500 odd difference in the asking prices.

If you want to sell your car for £18K, IMO, you need to advertise it at £18000 OVNO, proof read your ad for spelling errors and list the full spec and no. of owners in the ad, how long is it taxed for, how long you have owned it, and remove the "plus lots more" and the bit about being a petrol head and people thinking you mad for buying this car.

A friend of mine was selling his car, 335d M/sport saloon on a 06, a few months back and it was a little quiet, but first to see did buy his car, after 3 weeks.

Thanks will make the changes and I think drop the price a little further... frown

Is 40k miles considered low for an 08 plate?

£18K is a lot of money for someone to pay to a private seller. Most buyers will buy from a dealer at this price point.

Not a lot of people walking around with 18k on the hip in this market. And the choice is huge.

Last car I sold was advertised for £28,500, (equivalent cars at dealerships were £31k)- Two weeks went by and not a dickey bird, rang trader who came and bought it the next day for £27k, he had a buyer already lined up and sold it in 48 hours for £29k

....7.6% less (£1500) than other similar cars does not constitute a quick private sale...

If you really need to sell quick:-

A. ask for best offers by a set date
B. trade it in (WBAC etc)
C. ebay 1p start no reserve

good luck !!

I'd buy it but it would have to be mega cheap scratchchin

I dont think its just your car, its either all BMW's or all large engine BMW's.

i lost alot on my 3.0 Z4 when i sold it - it went for £7300, i paid £10350 for it 18 months previous.

it was below average mileage (64k) had great options live M-sport suspension and seats but like you i had it on piston heads for 4 weeks i think, auto trader for 2 weeks and eventually shifted it on ebay on a no reserve auction.

i was initially asking £9k on here, hoping to get £8.5k, i then reduced it £8.3k and finally stuck it on ebay as i had to get it off of my drive.

I did notice there was a phenominal number of Z4's for sale at the time, there were over 400 on pistonheads alone.

If i had to sell it again i wouldnt bother with Autotrader, it was a complete waste of money. Just ebay it and hope for the best, if its gotta go, its gotta go!

£170 a month - sounds ok to me ?? i'd be pretty happy with that.

OP - my apologies but can I ask what the masses think my 2008 E90 330i M-Sport would be worth (manual, no nav but a few decent options, 22k miles). I have mentally been imagining it being worth around £15k but maybe that's pie in the sky? I would imagine there's a pretty small target market for this kind of car...

Not for sale btw but I'm forever pondering wink

I was thinking that, 20% depreciation /year is about right!

Maybe its just me then, i just thought it was a lot.

i guess it wasnt helped by the high running costs, it seemed to cost £50/month in rear rubber on my modest 50 mile/day work trips returning 32-34mpg.

EDIT: Not to mention the insurance! £1100 in the first year, £1400 in the second and i wimped out of renewing for the 3rd as it was £1800!

O/P

Unfortunately your car is not the sort of spec your average 335d buyer would be looking for.

Preferable options are :-

19 inch rims
NAV
M Sport Spec
Strong Colour

Things that put people off are :-

Chrome around the windows, relatively small wheels, unsporty colour

I think the price is right, but its going to take a long time to sell. Sadly time is not on your side...

You should sell this i would think at that price, it does seem alot in many ways but in others and when you compare it to what else is about then its a steel, plus whoever buys it knows they are getting one very well looked after example! If i had 18k it would be in my garage tomorrow! hope you get what you want for it :/
