For the life of me I can't bluetooth my new Nokia N8 with my 2007 Z4M so I can see contacts and make calls from the car. Its fine with my E71 so the car is OK...
Seems to pair fine then the car displays 'waiting' or similar and an hour later I'm bored! tried every which way. Any ideas or is the 'free upgrade' (and halved bills and £80 cashback) handset going on ebay....
Any ideas or is it just s
t!

What you must remember is that bluetooth versions and development continues on the whole. New products and revisions and updates come out relatively frequently. Older unit's 'might' not be compatible with some of the latest products withe latest versions. As Bluetooth isn't 'seen' many people have become accustomed that it just works in everything. I'm not sure if there's an updated bluetooth unit for the Z4 (or if it's shared with other BMWs) but might be worthwhile checking out. Another way around it is to swap the N8 for another phone you do like and other Z4 owners are using with the same Bluetooth setup that's in your car. Another thing to try is looking through various forums to see if anyone has fiddled with configuration settings of the N8 to make it work..
Things like that can and often do get expensive, it's why I use a £37 Supertooth Buddy bluetooth hands free device and can connect to 2 handsets simultaneously and can be moved car to car
Cheers, Dennis!

Have you tried this method (taken from another website)
"If paired, delete the pair on phone and ULF.
Then, go into pairing mode on the car, and use the symbian phone to find the car. Enter your pin number so the phone is paired. Don't exit pairing mode on the BMW yet.
Now on the symbian phone go to contacts. Select about 10-15 contacts (hold down the pen key (or equiv) and scroll down). Then go to options -> send business card -> via bluetooth. Select the BMW from the list of bluetooth devices and it'll send them across. Repeat for the rest of your contact list.
You may end up with a few duplicates in your BMW phonebook depending on whether your original contacts had multiple phone numbers or not. But it definitely works and displays incoming call name properly etc.
I tried doing the whole contacts list in one go but it failed - doing it piecemeal takes a little longer but its a one time thing."
This method worked for me with my Nokia N8 in my 2005 M3 which should have a similar bluetooth module I imagine.

Thanks that's worth a try. Does it then sync changes to the contacts list made on the phone over time?"If paired, delete the pair on phone and ULF.
