Does anyone know if this will be front- or rear-wheel-drive? There's a lot of speculation but no definitive answer, not even on the BMW website which now has pics and some spec for it.

Its RWD, the FWD rumours turned out to be false

That's a relief.

I have to say, I kind of like it. BMW have a habit of producing cars which look a bit awkward when you first see them, but over time you get used to them and then, once your perception of what's normal has adjusted, everything else looks outdated and unimaginative by comparison. Just a shame that the side profile is virtually identical to that of the outgoing model - I feel they could have done more there.

I hope the same guy hasn't done the new 3 series...they really need to get that right. As someone else has noted, Audi has them licked in the looks dept at the moment.

It's odd as the current A3 dates back to 2003 and has only really had a couple of facelifts and a new engine range to keep it fresh, but it still looks better than this

Its not about 1 guy drawing it any everybody else not having a say. this is the way BMW's look now. And other manufacturers (not just far eastern ones WILL follow their lead). And as for Audi, well i've never seen a car manufacturer so scared of designing anything a bit different
