I've just had a set of these fitted to the rear of my 120d M sport and am amazed at how truly awful they are. I've never felt such a huge difference between tyres, and I wasn't that impressed with the Goodyear s they replaced.

I've had BMW's with run flats for the last 5 years so am familiar with their "unique" characteristics, but this is a whole new level.

It's fundamentally changed the handling and left me with no confidence in the car. If feels like the geo settings have been changed and the high speed handling is boarding on dangerous. It was so disconcerting through a fast sweeping left hander I pulled over and was sure something was wrong. I was sure I had a puncture, but could find nothing wrong.

They also seem to be getting hotter than usual. I've checked the size, direction and PSI and cant find anything wrong.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Apart from the fact that RFT's are dire at the best of times, i think you'll find that they will take up to a thousand miles before they 'scrub in' .

It's possible you've got a rogue set of tyres.
I'd go back to the dealer that fitted them and express your concerns.

Any new tyre will handle strangely for a little while. You've gone from a well worn tyre on each corner with it's own individual wear pattern to a square edged tyre with up to 8mm tread depth.

Block movement is the first issue - especially with the increased stiffness afforded with a run-flat - so it will die down after a few hundred miles.

As has been already said going from old to new is weird. I remember this from only a few months ago when i had mine replaced and it was a very different driving experience and I didnt feel confident in corners either. All ok now though smile
