Please can someone recommend a company that can/do repair satnav units for the E46

I'd rather someone have used a company as opposed to a Google pot luck search as ive been mugged once already!

Thank you!

Well, I bought an update disc and V32 upgrade from an online company.

I inserted the V32 update disc for my mk3 CD nav and the screen acknowledged it and went blank. It stayed like that for about an hour. Eventually I had to turn off the car and try and eject the disc. It wouldn't eject so I had to strip the unit and get it out.

Now on the screen there is no option to select the NAV just TV, Computer and SET.

I need it rebooting but it seems to be stuck in some sort of loading cycle. The company I bought the discs from have been unhelpful and now I'm stuck

I am fairly sure that the v32 update is not intended for the mk3 cd based nav, it is intended for the mk4 dvd based unit.
I used it on mine (mk4) a while ago and it worked fine.

Have you tried a battery disconnect/re-connect?

Hi there

Yeah, since posting Ive done some more digging and it appears you are right the V32 is a DVD based system OS. So it looks like I need a MK3 Firmware re-flash/update

Does anyone know where I can get this done please?

PS - yeah tried disconnecting the unit and it makes no difference unfortunately

I get all my software/new map discs from a place called 'Eurosatnav' and the guy is helpful too. He does stuff for the mk3, so get in touch and ask him, as I think he does the update for your unit too.

You have part loaded an incorrect firmware.
I don't know what the company you bought it from can do to be honest?
That is like buying a windows machine, formatting it then trying to load Mac OSX on it and realising you can't and then moaning that windows won't boot, even though you have wiped it off the computer.

Couple of questions.

Does the drive still light up showing a disc in there?
Have you tried pulling the power and holding down the eject button when plugging it back in?
If that doesn't work keep pressing the eject button to see if it will eject.

Problem you have got is you have no firmware on the unit now, so it won't show up in the screen.

Have a look at this thread....

You will need to find an earlier version and modify it so the drive thinks it is later, search that forum for info, been about 5 years since I did that and can't remember now, but a morning of having a play around will get you back up and running. Unless it is completely bricked, then just buy a new one.
I have just thrown one out on Thursday as well as I thought 'no one is going to want a MKIII unit now.' Typical!
