First time on the dragstrip for me...
Discussion
My first ever go on a drag strip in any car was yesterday in my standard BMW E36 328i, completely standard at Bruntingthorpe, GTI International....
Well pleased with my time, and with the car.... 0-60 in 5.77 seconds and standing quarter in 14.2 seconds

Did go on a run again, but this time only managed 0-60 in 6.2 seconds and 15.7 seconds on the quarter, although by then it was much hotter, I had a car full of camping gear and forgot to turn off the air con
Well impressed with a 14 year old, 120,000 mile beemer - I was posting times quicker than Focus RS Mk2s, and a few other cars I really didn't expect to beat. The car has no right to be that quick with the power to weight ratio that it has, well under-rated.
Yeah, I know, cool story bro... etc etc

I'm sure a contemporary road test had one timed at 5.9s 0 - 60. I think the rumour was that BMW played it down so as not to steal the M3s thunder.
Impressive figures though, hopefully mine could achieve similar.
Are you sure it hasn't had the 325 manifold conversion or anything?
Not as far as I know... although I wouldn't be any the wiser if it had.Impressive figures though, hopefully mine could achieve similar.

Hi, I too was at gti international and happened to see your run, I was the're with my brother who has a corrado, I have an e46 m3.
As you came up to the line I remarked to my brother not to expect much due to the high no's of modified vw's going well, so I was shocked to see you leave the line so hard and continue on posting a great time! I was truly shocked! Full respect.
Steve.

I surprised myself to be honest, and like I say, the following day I didn't quite recreate the magic of the first run; as soon as I pulled off on that first run I knew I'd got it just right! As I say, beginners luck! The black Ibiza next to me still did finish a touch ahead, though!
