Hey folks,
After selling my Focus RS (Mk2) I've just bought a 06 Plate 120d Sport, Pic Below.

Its done 46k Miles, got it for £8994 With free service and MOT.

I'm after some advice, already i'm thinking about sprucing it up a bit, not too much. I just think some new alloys, some window tints for the rear doors and back window as i genrally feel this would make it a bit nicer.

Does anyone have any ideas of some alloys that would suit a 1 series, I'm kind of teetering towards M-Sport alloys, or have any more ideas to possibly improving the overall look a bit better.

Edited, folks, does anyone know what Model the car is??, i havn't picked it up yet, i am this weekend, is it a E87/E90 etc etc. Trying to find out.

Kind Regards

Gaz

It is an E87 as it is a 5 door.

Have a look on www.babybmw.net for some upgrade ideas.

I came to a 1-series from a Focus ST and have been really pleased with mine. I think the 208M alloys look super, although there's an entire 'what wheels?' thread on the forum gizlaroc has pointed you to...

What prompted the change from the RS? They're very different cars...!

I got mine after a 147 GTA and I think it is great. Shame the vandals who keyed it last night didn't smile

The www.babybmw.net forum is great and I have got lots of advice from there.

I have the 208M alloys on my car and I think they look good. BBS CH wheels will also look great, as will M3 CSL replicas.

As for mods, these immediately spring to mind:

- they say a remap shows good gains (takes the 120d to 215bhp IIRC) so you could get that done first.

- there is an Alpine speaker upgrade package if you have the standard speakers which aren't too great.

- Replace the existing aerial with a Peugeot 607 stubbby aerial which you can buy from eBay for about £5 and which screws straight on.

- Get a set of winter tyres now smile

Nice 1-Series OP. I quite like the alloys as they are. If you do want to change them a set of M3 CSL one's would look lovely smile

I would recommend you get some M-sport alloys, to make it look like this:

They really set it off IMO.

Would 17" or 18" M-Sport alloys be best??. Do 18" even fit to that point??

The 208Ms are 18s. They are optional wheels and fit ok. I think you start running into trouble with 19s.

I just bought a 120d M Sport 3dr, 59 plate, 15000 miles. It has the 208M 18" alloys, they really make it look good. As for it being a boring car, I would certainly contest that, performance stacks up well against most modest hot hatches and it does 60mpg! Yes it's a diesel but it is a fantastic car and a great place to be when doing lots of miles. It has to be M Sport trim for me though.

He said 'looks boring'.

I don't think anyone would say it is a boring car to drive, I think they drive superb.

Just bought a 120d SE 57 plate for my daily commute round the M25. I wanted know what sort of real world mpg everone's getting out of their's? I bought mine after spending 4 years in mk4 Golf 1.4 which was plesant enough but this is a completely different level.

Thats my car but an auto.

I can go from chiswick M4 ,M25, M23 down to worthing .Middle lane driving 52MPG.

Journeys to gloucester like I stole it 43MPG.

Around outer london Postcodes w4,5,6 etc low 30s maybe less.

The other day up to Leicster 48MPG .In the winter you can knock about 4 mpg off that.

One night late at night on M4 coming home did a little test.

10 miles at 80 mph was 47 mpg, 10 miles at 70mph 56mpg, and 15 miles at 55-60 mph(lorries!!) an amazing 72 mpg.

Hope that helps.

I think people forget the urban figure on the official tests is an average of 39mph over 7 miles.
That's why so many moan when they sit at 80mph and only get 40mpg.
