Hi all,

When I slip my 330Ci into reverse the left hand wing mirror suddenly angles downwards as far as it can go. Then when I'm back into a forward gear it corrects itself.

Has anyone got any idea if there's a simple fix for this?

Cheers,

david

Assuming this is not a windup, ( this IS PH), then the mirror is designed to drop to give you visibility to the car when reversing. Normal. You can cancel it it you wish.

Really?

I've had the car, and two like it previously, for over two years and this is the first time it's happened. It only does it on the left hand mirror.

No wind up...promise.

(Am I being a xxxxing idiot here?)

Googling around I think you may be right, and I am being an idiot. There does seem to be a mirror tilt function, but clearly I've had the switch on the other side all these years.

Apologies.

I'll get my hat out with the D on it.

It's there to help you park close to the kerb without scuffing your nsr alloy.

That's what I used it for anyway.

on your driver side door - there is the mirror adjustment buttons... and on top is a switch to click it left or right so you can choose what mirror to adjust ...

click that to the right(or left) cant remember and it should stop the mirror from going down when you put it in reverse

I'll face-up, this caught me out too, I was about to book the car in at BMW to get the mirror fixed under warranty, until I checked the manual !!!! It's actually a useful feature.

Mirror adjustment selection switch to the right and it won't happen. To the left and it will.

Could be worse...a few years ago a mate and I had just taken delivery of new E90s as company cars.

Him-"How's yours?"
Me-"Love it, great care etc etc"
Him-"Something bloody wrong with mine, it keeps cutting out at traffic lights..."
Me-"You 'tard"
