Old age is catching up with me. Saw a white X1 with all the options on and spent more time looking at it than the Z4s, verts and M3 in the dealers today. Mind you the 1M coupe was yum

Know what you mean, when I first saw it I wasn't that keen, then I looked at it a little closer, then drove it and here we are. . .bought a month ago

I was looking for another E91, and had two dealers I know tell me to try the X1, tried it on the Monday and had one delivered on the Friday.
Such a great car, 95% of the handling of the E91 and so, so, so much more comfy, feels more like an Alpina D3 to drive in that respect.

I have also gone black with the X-Line pack, not so sure about it in the lighter colours unless it is an M-Sport and then it works.

But also swapped the old mans F11 touring for a 5 GT a couple of weeks ago as well, which will probably sicken the old skool die hards even more. haha

I thought the same as the OP, then I got in one and drove. Almost immediately I went off the thought of £25k and the X1.

Cheap interior and not much of a drive 18d.

So, I thought how about a new X3 for the wife....then I realsied that we'd be spending £35k and still only a four pot. The e90 330d is still on the drive.

I think the interior on the X1 is better than our E91, the dash and everything is a really nice soft touch material, as are the armrests etc.

I thought the new X3 was dire, just too bloated and far more crashy than the X1.
Having said that maybe the X3 was on run flats???

Sat in an m sport recently and was really impressed with the interior, those alcantara seats are lovely.

Not driven one but considering one as a replacement for my 1 series next year.

You dirty, rotten bds.

Google BMW 507 and 3.0 CSL and spend the rest of the evening resetting your taste ECU.

But neither of those is going to enjoy doing 40,000 miles a year are they.

Honestly, check out the M Sport version....they've got rid of the fugly front of the original model and it looks great with the double spoke alloys.

I would never buy new but don't think it will be any worse than any other model.

I quite like them, look ok (IMO) and decent value given its based on a 3-series but priced as a 1-series. The new sDrive 20d ED version with 119g/ km co2 emissions and 163bhp should prove popular.

What the X1? I doubt that very much.

If the first thing you think about when you consider a new car is selling it, better of not bothering. money is worth nothing unless you have something to spend it on, get it spent and enjoy. smile

That's crap!

The 1 series has the best residual of any BMW and now the X1 has taken over that as far as the finance houses are concerned.

I was financing a 520d F11 touring and a 18d sDrive X1 at the same time and after 48 months the X1 had a guaranteed value of £8400 and the 520d £9200.
So, £800 more, but one was a £25k car than the other a £39k car.
