Engine Light On

Engine light's been on for a few days.

Cars running fine on all cylinders. No apparent reason.

Any suggestions as to the cause ?

Maybe Cat on it's way out ?

IIRC I think I had a similar problem (on my E46 330ci) and it was down to the MAF.

I'm sure someone else will be along in a minute though with a more accurate answer.

You really need to get the codes read though.

Might help if you told us what car you had?
My e39 540 will drive without the maf connected and not even throw a light.
