Re my other thread http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

I have been looking at 2005 BMW 320i SE, the dealer did say it will come with an electronic key rather than an actual key. I have not seen it yet but I cant wait to see it on Saturday!

So can anyone confirm the 2005 of bmw has something along the lines of multi remote key like mercedes IR key. ie. wind up windows via the key fob?

On some BMW forums I heard it only does wind down but not wind up due to health and safety precaution possibility of trapped limbs. but I can see people on youtube have them enabled for wind up and down but this obviously doesnt mean it applies to my specific model?

Yes, it will.

It also has the worst engine BMW make. Seriously, its rubbish - don't bother. It's slow, which would be fine if you were rewarded with great fuel consumption, but it's reasonably thirsty as well. It seems to offer zero benefits at all.

Same. Sometimes, that's dodgy German electronics for you though.

AFAIK it's only the hinged rear windows on coupe models that don't close on the remote key. Reason being they have no anti trap mechanism.

huh i thought that the 320 would give a bit more omph over the 318 . so with BMWS we talking 323 minimum engine power wise ?

i would have thought the 320i 140 bhp would be ok for 0-60 mph 9 secs ?

are you talking E46 or E90?

if E90... tbh i'd go for a 320D unless you want noise/performance. In which case you need a 330 petrol. The 320d will be much faster than the 320 petrol and will use loads less fuel.

What Fox was saying is that it costs the same to run a 320 compared to a 330, even with fuel consumption there is barely 1-2mpg in it. I know in the old E39, 520 drivers often reported higher fuel consumption than the 523 and 528.

I had a quick peek at the car last night. I saw a switch inside the actual armrest which is apparently climate control for the centre console storage in case you want to store anything inside it.

but i cant remember if it had an AUX hole inside the armrest as I did not keep a look out for this, parkers (http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/equipment/Detail.aspx?deriv=32059#amount=21550&years=3) says it comes as standard?
