Getting one from new and hopefully made by early November. I know - a vert in time for xmas. No, I am not a hairdresser nor am I gay.

Going for the 118d M Sport model with The Black Moonlight top (comes cw/silver threads that kind of shimmer). I am not certain on the other packages I can afford (below) and was looking for advice.

1.

Decided to have the diesel for the running costs - however - will it be more clunky sounding given that it is a soft top - the petrol model is affordable but is 20 mpg's less?

2.

Would I be cheaper getting a retro fit xenon lights c/w angel eyes as opposed to manufacturer fitted?

On the standard halogens can the LED eybrow be used as a "day time running light" on it's own - if I can't afford the angel eyes?

3.

On the rear lights it states on the brochure they have LED elements as standard - is that the L shaped units in each brake light they are referring to? Or are these ones above only if you select the xenon package?

4.

Was going to go for the storage package where you get cup holders on the centre under the arm rest and a dash board storage area. Is this worth it or can I retro fit that?

5.

If any of you have the time - what are the must have optional extras with dealer and retro fit costs please ? My oldest son says he prefers the coupe version - but he isnt having a mid-life crisis like his old-boy.

i.e.
•should I upgrade from 17" to 18" dealer or retro?
•would additional speakers be better retro?
•is the USB worth the £95?
•is this the longest newbie OP ever?

Any help appreciated.

I'd go for all the factory fit option you can afford or in fact want.

Xenons,Bluetooth, upgraded stereo all very good options and desirable,id go for heated seats aswell for those cold sunny winter days and the factory wind break.

So why not pay up front in cost of car than having to mess around after you've purchased it.

My must have options on any car are the above along with heated seats and leather.

Is the M sport pack really necessary? Do you really need sports suspension on a 118i? why not get some other extras instead?

Get the m sport,no doubt.

Remember too that leather is roasting in the hot weather, maybe think m sport, standard cloth and the options, 18's make the car and will look like poverty spec without.

Heated seats area absolute must for a convertible.

The mot rules are changing for xenon lights so if you retro fit them without the self levelling and washing functions they will not pass an mot. This might not affect you depending on how long you keep the car but it might affect saleability.

USB for £95 is a no brainer.
