E70 X5 - Front pad replacement cost?

Anyone had the front pads changed on their X5 (E70 & we've got the petrol one if that makes a difference?) and if so what sort of price can I expect to pay?

BMW have quoted me £215 + VAT which sounds steep to me!

£100+ would be for labour and whatever the stealers would charge for parts, i suggest finding a good indepedent where you save on labour and parts cost.

Independent is the route to take I think ... will explore further.

BMW did also say that it's likely the discs will need replacing too so I would want some advice as to whether that was actually required or not.

Discs tend to last around 50,000 miles but its very rough, lots of motorway could eek them out to 70k, lots of town would be 40k. I change the pads myself in about 15 minutes so the thought of paying someone £100 to do it difficult for me.
