Z4M Coupe or Z4 3.0 Sport Coupe? Best to own???
Discussion
I've previously had a Z4 3.0 Sport Coupe and really liked the way it drove (once I changed the tyres to Micheline Run Flats). I have puit a deposit on a Z4M Coupe that I am supposed to be collecting from the dealer tomorrow.
However, I am having second thoughts as the running costs for the M are much higher than for the 3.0 Sport (servicing, tax & insurance - also fuel but not too worried about this as won't use it very often). The fact it won't be used much is what is making me question the higher running costs, at least if we were using it alot we would be getting our moneys worth.
Lots of research thsi week has revealed that the M is not easy to live with unless being prepared to get stuck in each time you use it.
Has anyone owned both that could offer their opinion to help me make the right decision?

I've owned both.
The only thing that makes the M "more difficult to live with" is the CDV issue with the gearbox - a bit of a nuisance in stop start traffic, but really no biggy.
In every other area, the M is better. To my mind, worth the extra money. But there are some fairly vocal people on here who disagree (although to the best of my knowledge, none of them have actually owned both!).
Whichever you get, they're great cars.
I do think the M looks more modern, with the sculpted bonnet, if looks matter to you.
ETA: In the M, I never pulled up next to a 3.0 and thought "I wish I still had that one".

Nobody can really answer which one is best. Its really down to which one you want to own.
I have previously owned a 2.5 z4 roadster and now own a Z4MR.In my opinion you cant compare
any other z4 to the M and yes it is considerably more expensive to run,but if you want better performance, handling, steering, brakes and exclusivity then buy the M.
I dont use mine everyday as i work offshore so my anual mileage is about 6k so this makes running the M a lot more viable than if it was a daily driver.
Surely you must have driven the M?,so must be able to tell whether it is for you or not?.

I own a Z4C and my best friend has a Z4MC so other than me owning both I like to think I am in a good position to comment.
For me, the performance difference between the M and the 3.0 did not and does not justify the extra cost (cost as in petrol, servicing, purchase cost, consumables etc). For others it may be different, however for me the 3.0 is quite sufficient.

Its not all about the 0-60 and dragstrip times though is it. Someone recently listed the difference between the two cars component wise and the list was substantial. Driven neither (but would like an M and would happily consider the vanilla option). However, reading your original post, it almost sounds like neither is your best option TBH.
Low miles and having already done the Z4 Coop thing, are you going to get enough out of the M, or are you better off going down a different road and getting something a little more extreme?
